10/26/15: Math Pictures
Well, math has been going well lately. Here's some little pictures of what we are learning about in Math:
This picture above shows our main vocabulary we have been learning in our second unit: Patterns and Equations. I have seen both in the last 2-3 weeks.
And this picture shows a few of the questions we do. We use Pearson eText as our online textbook pretty much daily. So far, there hasn't been a single school day without a Math class. Here is a couple tools we use too:
Input/Output Machines:
These are sort of complicated, but I understand them. First, you stick in a number like 7 for example. Then it goes through the machine and the output comes out. If it involves two operations, then it goes in through the second, then it comes out.
Cartesian Plane:
Not a personal favourite, but you still have to learn about it. How it ticks is that there is a grid and in the bottom left hand corner of it, there is an O, or origin. On each square, there is a line with a number or letter underneath it, like 1 or F. You then for example go with a pattern of (4, 10). First you go four squares up, then ten to the right. Then you write a letter there to represent the coordinates.

11/23/15: A Whole New Unit!
We have worked on two units so far: Patterns and Equations, and Number Sense. We are now working on the Decimals unit. We have to go up to millionths! I'm happy we are now in Term 2 because that means a clean slate for me and I try again on marks I didn't succeed on, which, of course, isn't math although I could technically try to improve. I will try and hopefully come out better. I know I will benefit nicely from it.
02/26/16: Tuning to the ratio radio!
We are currently on a pretty big unit: Fractions, Ratios, and something else I can't remember. It turns out I am really good at ratios, and ok with fractions. I should improve on my mixed numbers and improper fractions relations too! I have checked my marks on PowerSchool and I am doing pretty decent on math: a nice B. I could probably improve if I tried hard enough. Pearson eText really helps too. It gives me access to all of the Pearson textbooks so I can save room in and on my desk. Plus, you create online study groups while you are in Pearson eText or you simply join one as well. However, your iPad or computer must be rather on the same wi-fi network or be in very close proximity to one another.
